Smyrna

Art

Show

A couple of years ago, all CCSD art teachers were challenged by our supervisor to collaborate with "feeder" schools.   I had the idea of an art show to exhibit art from all Smyrna Schools.  It was a HUGE success.

5th Grade

EGYPT

I created this digital Storyboard to spark interest with my 5th Graders as we begin our Egyptian PBL project.  I love integrating other subjects in my lessons!

3rd Grade

The SCREAM

We learned about EXPRESSIONISM and discussed the artist Edvard Munch and his famous painting The Scream.  We watched the BrainPop video on Stress and talked about what makes us want to scream (good, bad, sad, happy, excited, etc...).  We drew a picture of us screaming with at least one visual clue in the drawing.  After coloring it, the students wrote a script about what they were screaming about.  Next, the students photographed their art, edited it and used the ChatterKid App to record their script.  â€‹

TREE

Tutorial

My very FIRST tutorial. It shows how to draw a tree that is made by repeating the letter "V". I am excited to say that the Khan Academy has it on their app.
Students first learned how to draw 3-D shapes.  Then they designed a robot with at least one 3-D element.  After drawing, tracing and coloring their robot they had to write what makes their robot special.  Finally, they took a photo of their robot, edited it and made an Animated Talking Photo with the Photo Talk App.  â€‹

ELEMENTS
of

ART

All artsists have the same elements of art with which to work.  They are line, shape, color, value, form, texture & space.  ALL of the Art in the world is done with one or more of these elements.

PRINCIPLES

of
DESIGN

Once you are familiar with the Elements of Art, you need to learn how the Principles of Design can make your art work better.  They are balance, contrast, emphasis, movement, pattern, rhythm & unity.  They help artist organize their artwork so it feels more comfortable to viewers.
